OPICA (Optimistic People In a Caring Atmosphere) is an adult day care program and counseling center that has served adults with memory loss or family issues in West Los Angeles for almost 40 years now. Because OPICA has been serving people with Alzheimer's for the past 40 years, there were several duties and activities I took initiative in once I learned their routine. The following are the duties and activities I volunteered to do: Assisting the staff with distributing meals to each person,…
OPICA (Optimistic People In a Caring Atmosphere) is an adult day care program and counseling center that has served adults with memory loss or family issues in West Los Angeles for almost 40 years now. Because OPICA has been serving people with Alzheimer's for the past 40 years, there were several duties and activities I took initiative in once I learned their routine. The following are the duties and activities I volunteered to do: Assisting the staff with distributing meals to each person, feeding any person eating if needed, cleaning up after meals, helping people to their seats and engaging in conversation, Tai Chi, Bingo, Singing and Dance, and assisting in arts and crafts (expressive drawing and water color painting)
